You can start with three basic ingredients, baking soda, vinegar and water. Optionally you can add essential oils like lemon which smell really good and can be used for treating other appliances as well. First off you are going to need a cup of baking soda, one third cup of water and a few drops of the lemon oil. Mix these ingredients into a fine paste. Take out the oven shelves and with a sponge or scourer start scrubbing.
The applied paste will froth up as you scrub vigorously, this is a good thing. Apply a liberal amount throughout the oven including the individual shelves, don’t miss the inside of the door and scrub out the door seal with a toothbrush. Burnt on or heavily caked surfaces may need a scraper to remove this harsh debris. The stove top can be tackled with this same method. When scrubbing is complete it is recommended to leave overnight.

Pour a couple of cups of vinegar into a bowl and take a sponge or soft towel, apply the vinegar and wipe over the entire surface that was originally scrubbed. Once wet sufficiently the baking soda paste will come off easily and you will now begin to notice the pleasant fresh lemon fragrance permeating from your oven and stove top.
Once wiped clean off the baking soda paste take some clean and dry paper towel and give it the once over to make sure its dry. Using this natural method does take longer than using industrial chemicals but your oven will be left glistening and smelling fantastic.
